Berenice was born on the 19th of May, 1979, in Paris France. She is an ethnic mix of French Chinese origin and Cambodian descent. Her dad is Chinese and her mother French. She is from a middle class family that has both Chinese and Cambodian origins. Her mother was a teacher while her father was a doctor. As a child living in Paris she was fascinated with art.
